07K is technically not the true engine code. 07K is a code used by the part number identification system. All part number related to the I5 5-cyl (Audi included) will start with 07K. Most enthusiast use the 07K term to designate the naturally aspirated VW 2.5 engine. They are multiple revisions of the engine and it just seems more convenient to stick with that designation.
Most common engine code (VW):
- CBTA (170hp)
- CBUA (170hp SULEV)
- BGP (150hp)
- BGQ (150hp SULEV)
